Miller receives commission appointment

Jason Miller has been appointed to assume the vacant position on Franklin County Commission by Gov. Robert Bentley.

“It’s a big responsibility,” Miller said. “I just hope I can do a good job.”

The position, District 2, was left vacant when Commissioner Wyman Pounders passed away in June.

Miller, who is campaigning to be elected for the position in November, and Pounders’ wife Roxann, had both expressed interest in the appointment.

Terry Bolton, who is also campaigning for election, did not request consideration for appointment, in deference to Roxann Pounders.

Miller will serve as appointee until such time as a new commissioner is elected in November and sworn into office.
