RPD arrests two in car break-in

A car break-in caught on security video resulted in a Wednesday afternoon car chase through Russellville and the arrest of a local man and teenager, officials said.

Police said Demarcus Leandus Smith Jr., 18, of Russellville, and a 15-year-old boy have been charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle and theft of property. Russellville Police investigator Lt. Scotty Lowery said another person is wanted in connection with the incident that happened around 3 p.m. Wednesday. “We know who the other suspect is, and we are actively looking for him now,” Lowery said.

Lowery said the suspects are accused of breaking into a car parked on Cross Street in Russellville.“A business across the street from where the car break-in took place caught the suspects on video,” Lowery said. “We looked at the video, saw the kind of car they were in and got descriptions of the suspects.”
