RCS amends school hours for May 19-20

Both the Russellville Golden Tigers varsity girls softball team and varsity boys baseball team made it through their regional and semi-final tournaments and are now heading this week to play for chances at state titles.

To encourage support of these teams, Russellville will have special dismissals for May 19-20.

May 18 RHS Softball plays at 10:30 a.m. at Lagoon Park in Montgomery in the first game of the double elimination state tournament. RCS will not completely dismiss school since this is just the first day of the tournament, but students may receive an excused absence this day if they are able to provide a ticket stub from the girls softball game in Montgomery.

If the softball team makes it though their Wednesday games, Thursday, May 19, will be the day the girls softball state championship game will be held. RHS baseball will also play Game 1 of the state championship series against Faith Academy at 7 p.m. at Patterson Field in Montgomery May 19.

Schools will be closed all day since this will be championship day for the girls.

May 20, the baseball team will take on Faith Academy for Game 2 of the championship series at 4 p.m. at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery. Depending on the outcome of Game 1, this could be the final game determining the state champion. If it’s needed, Game 3 will be played at 7 p.m., which will decide the winner.

Schools will be closed all day since this will be championship day for the boys.

Students and teachers are encouraged to support both these teams.
