For Franklin County Commission District 4, Democratic voters made their selection for the November election in a run-off Tuesday.

Norris Lewey took 433 votes to incumbent Don Hasting’s 420 votes, according to unofficial results, which will be certified Tuesday with the addition of a single provisional ballot.

Voter turnout was low, with 1,019 ballots cast. Both candidates expressed disappointment in the voter turnout. “I feel pretty good, but it’s a shame people don’t get out and vote,” Lewey said. “But Mr. Hastings ran a good clean race, and I’m proud of that.”

Hastings said he’s disappointed, and this loss marks the end of his political career. He thanked his family, friends and supporters. “I appreciate the ones who voted for me and worked for me,” Hastings said.
