Bobcats pick up two big wins

Peyton Thomas hit two home runs to propel the Bobcats past Sulligent last Tuesday, 18-8, in six innings.

The Bobcats were in a difficult situation in the third inning before they recovered for the win.

Joe Hardy led Bobcats’ offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the fourth inning.

Each team blasted the other’s pitching, and there were 26 total runs and 16 hits during the game.

Nick Swinney got the win in relief for Phil Campbell. Swinney pitched four innings and allowed two runs.

The Bobcats matched their one-run second inning with one more in the third. In the second, the Bobcats scored on a groundout by Jacob Anthony, bringing home Mike Wrona.

Phil Campbell survived Sulligent’s surge and put up two runs of its own in the fourth. The Bobcats scored on a two-run home run by Thomas.

Phil Campbell didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring nine runs in the fifth inning when it scored on a two-run double by Wrona, two errors and two singles.

The Bobcats added five more runs in the bottom of the sixth. A bases-loaded walk scored Anthony for the inning’s first run.

Phil Campbell also got a big win over rival Hackleburg over the weekend. The Bobcats were led by Hayden Copeland’s bat. Copeland went 2-for-4 and scored one run. He singled in the first and third innings. The Bobcats also got runs on a two-run single by Nick Taylor and a Colby Baker double.
