Stolen truck recovered in creek

About 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office got a report of a stolen truck. About 1:30 p.m., the Red Bay Police Department got witness reports of the truck floating in Canal Creek on Highway 11 North.

Just outside of Red Bay on County Road 29 was where the truck was stolen from a residence. “Basically, the owner said he came home from work around 7 a.m., parked it in the yard, later heard a commotion outside, woke up and the truck was gone,” said Sheriff Shannon Oliver.

RBPD got the call that a vehicle was sinking in water and then found out the Ford F-150 had been reported stolen in Franklin County. Oliver said the theft is still under investigation, with the FCSO looking at several “unanswered questions.”

Oliver said the truck was apparently upside down at some point in the water.
