A Russellville woman, Tanya Lynn Wiginton, 36, was arrested last Tuesday on five counts of rape, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Wiginton was arrested for rape of a male child, 14 years old. According to FCSO investigators, the abuse has been going on for the past few months. Investigators received a tip and were able to move forward with an arrest based on their investigation.

“It’s just a sad situation when an adult takes advantage of a child,” said Sheriff Shannon Oliver.

The 14-year-old is reportedly no relation to Wiginton. Investigation is still ongoing.
