Nellie P. Montgomery

Nellie P. Montgomery, age 95, Tuscumbia, went home to be with her Lord Feb. 26.
Mrs. Montgomery was a steadfast Christian lady who was always very humble, happy and never complaining. She attended church at Fourth Street Church of Christ in Tuscumbia. She taught for many years at Little Red Hen Kindergarten and later Little Chick Pre-K School. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who lived her life by her values, being the most unselfish person, caring for others and setting a high example for all of her family. She enjoyed her retirement years working in the Volunteer Service at Helen Keller Hospital.
The visitation was from 1-3 p.m. Feb. 28 at Spry Memorial Chapel, Russellville, with the funeral following at 3 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Jeff Abrams officiating. Burial was at Tharptown Cemetery.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Donny Montgomery and Bob Montgomery and wife Melanie; grandchildren, Michael Montgomery and wife Meg, Doug Montgomery and wife Whitney, Dan Montgomery and wife Tracy, Ben Montgomery and wife Tammi, Dustin Montgomery, Amy Bishop and husband Britt, Amber Montoya, Kirby Montgomery and Katie Oakley and husband Kyle; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Montgomery; sons, Mack A. Montgomery and Jim E. Montgomery and wife Anne; grandson, Gregory D. Montgomery; and parents, Arthur Lee and Mandy Britnell.
The pallbearers were Michael Montgomery, Doug Montgomery, Dan Montgomery, Ben Montgomery, Britt Bishop, Jackie Taylor, Jim Greenhill and Wyatt Glover.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Southern Magnolia Assisted Living in Iuka, Miss., as well as to Dr. Glenn and Gentiva Hospice for the love and care of their family.
