Walter L. Shewbart Jr.

Walter L. Shewbart Jr., 89, passed away Feb. 15 at ECM Hospital, Florence. He was born in Franklin County to Walter L. Shewbart Sr., and Lottie Thorn Shewbart. He was retired as a construction worker with the TVA and was a member of Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 17 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. Danny Stanford officiating. Burial will be in Burnout Cemetery, Vina.

Survivors are three daughters – Diana Marcelo and husband Robert, Vina, Martha Holt, Florence, and Renee Harris, Red Bay; four grandchildren – Brittney, Jason, Justin and Heather; three great-grandchildren – Anabella, Layla and Robert Jason; and one brother, Lelon Shewbart and wife Willodean, Vina.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mavis Coker Shewbart; a son, Jerry Shewbart; his parents; a sister, Locine Shaddix; and a brother, Hoyt Shewbart.

Pallbearers will be Forby Shewbart, Danny Shewbart, Donald Gober, Richard Townsend and Tommy Townsend.

Visitation was Feb. 16, 6-8 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay.
