Joe Holmes, Kelly Cole, Trent Stephenson and Kerry Gilbert are getting the band back together – Mountain Breeze will perform a reunion concert Jan. 23 as a benefit for Gilbert, who is fighting pancreatic lymphoma.

Only a few days – and only a few seats! – remain for the Mountain Breeze reunion concert, set for Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. at Russellville High School.

“I’m very excited about the concert,” said Kerry Gilbert, who will take the stage with old bandmates Joe Holmes, Kelly Cole and Trent Stephenson. “We’ve got a lot of tickets already sold. Lord willing, it will be a sellout.

Thursday of last week, about 300 seats were left for sale in the 1,200 seat auditorium. Celebration Packages – featuring seating in the first six rows, a meet and greet with the band at 6 p.m. and a complimentary “In Dixie” CD – are sold out already.

“We are excited about the reunion concert and a chance to help our friend Kerry Gilbert with his medical expenses,” said Joe Holmes, baritone. The concert was planned to aid Gilbert with expenses related to his pancreatic lymphoma battle.

The Secret Sisters and Jarred Pierce will also appear onstage to open the show. Gilbert said Pierce, whose fame is growing quickly in the country music world, will open the show, and the Secret Sisters will share their “beautiful sister harmony” and all-original music. “It’s very calming and peaceful to your ears, reminiscent of the 1940s,” Gilbert said.

Tickets are $25, and people are encouraged to purchase them before the concert at Stephenson Electric, Russellville City Hall or www.thebreezeisback.com.

Souvenir 30-year T-shirts will also be available. All proceeds from the concert and merchandise sales will go to benefit Gilbert.

“People will enjoy the harmony, and I think they’ll enjoy the songs we did 30 years ago that they haven’t heard, maybe, since then,” Gilbert said. “Hopefully everyone will want to buy one of our CDs, which has been remastered from the original album on cassette … We’re all excited about the show. We hope it’s going to be a wonderful night for everyone.”

All former band members and vocalists will be recognized on stage and are encouraged to attend.

Gilbert said he is grateful for all the involvement from volunteers and thankful to all the people who have purchased tickets.

“It’s a very exciting time,” he said. “I’m so humbled and appreciative of everyone’s willingness to help and to want to come. I’m a blessed man. It’s a blessing from God.”
