ALEA increases patrols during holidays
Between now and New Year’s Day, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is increasing patrols to help protect lives and promote highway safety.
According to ALEA, the holiday travel period began Dec. 18 and ends at midnight Jan. 1, 2016, during which time state troopers will work with counties and municipalities to prevent crimes and violations on state roadways.
Two precautions are recommended: (1) avoid driving under the influence, and (2) buckle up every time – no matter how short the trip. Secretary of Law Enforcement Spencer Collier said, “Using these two driving tips could save your life.”
Troopers will work additional shifts during this period thanks to funding provided by ADECA. They will be available to assist motorists and can be reached by dialing *47 on cellphones.
