Franklin County Schools Assistant Superintendent Donald Borden has announced his intention to seek the superintendent’s position in the 2016 election.

“Education has been my life. The Franklin County School system especially is very important to me. I want to be able to lead this system and be a positive influence in the staff and students’ lives. The experience that I have in education as classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent will be invaluable in the office of superintendent and has prepared me to be the best candidate,” Borden said.

“I was here through the tough proration years, and I’ve seen what it has taken to weather the tough times while at the same time help to lead the staff and students in a positive direction. I am confident my background and vast range of experience will be beneficial in the superintendent position. I am also a graduate of this system – I am very interested in seeing that this system functions efficiently and effectively.”

“I want every staff member and student to have the tools that they need to be successful,” Borden continued. “My goal is to make sure every student in our system is college- or career-ready by the time they graduate from high school.”

“As superintendent, I have visions and plans to improve the system with a continued focus on dual-enrollment classes, continued improvement in test scores, expansion of career tech opportunities and improved communication among staff, students, community and business leaders.”

“Our technology opportunities have to be expanded. We need to research and expand virtual education that would allow students to take courses outside the original school day program.”

“My vision also includes establishing a system leadership team to brainstorm ideas for growth. This team would include alumni, students, parents, teachers, staff, community and business leaders.”
