THS powers through football challenges

Losing can dampen spirits and cause some teams to quit, but Tharptown coach Jason Murray has seen some positive developments come from the Wildcats struggles in the first half of the season.

“We can let it get us down, or we can keep fighting,” said Murray. “We have a lot of young guys who are hungry to get this program going in the right direction. If they stick with it and keep working and keep their goals in mind, I believe they will see some success.”

Tharptown lost to Decatur Heritage Friday night and will travel to Phil Campbell this week to face the Bobcats.

“Phil Campbell is a good team that has had struggles of their own,” said Murray. “They were playing really well until they lost two of their best players to injuries. I expect we will get their very best effort, and we will give them our best effort, and hopefully we can get a win.”

The Wildcats will close the season with a tough stretch of games that include two of the state’s top ranked teams: Red Bay and Hubbertville.

“We have played a very tough schedule,” said Murray. “There are no easy wins on the schedule for us.  We have to work hard every week and give our very best effort each week.”
