The Russellville Parks and Recreation Center finished up its three-day basketball camp at the Russellville High School gym July 9.
“I think it was a good turnout,” said Russellville Parks and Recreation Superintendent Chad Sears. “We’ve been doing this (camp) for six years, and every year it has grown.”
The camp was assisted by recently-hired Russellville boys’ basketball coach Patrick Odom and current and former Russellville players. Odom was happy about what he saw from the campers.
“I came into this kind of late, so we didn’t get to do everything we wanted, but you can tell these kids are excited about basketball and what we’re trying to do here,” said Odom.
Odom also expressed his excitement about the city’s interest in the basketball program and the future of Russellville basketball as a whole.
Odom ended the camp with a quick speech on hard work and character.
“We plan on doing it again next year and hopefully it’ll continue to grow,” said Sears.
