Heath Hatton and Allen Gaston teamed up for an explosive night in Tharptown’s 28-0 crushing of Mars Hill on Friday.

Hatton passed for 138 yards and threw two touchdowns. He also ran for 77 yards and a touchdown. Two of Hatton’s touchdown passes were to Allen Gaston who netted 126 receiving yards on three catches.

The Wildcats scored first on a 62-yard touchdown strike to Gaston. Shawn Hines added the point after to make the score 7-0.

Hatton capped off a 10-play, 72-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run. Hines’ PAT made it 14-0.

Hatton and Gaston teamed up again just before the half with a 48-yard touchdown pass capping off an eight-play, 74-yard drive. Hines’ PAT made the score 21-0 at halftime.

Hines fell on a Tharptown fumble in the endzone to get his first touchdown of the year. He added his fourth straight PAT on the night to make the final score 28-0.

Hines accounted for 10 of the Wildcats’ 28 points on the night.

Tharptown still has an outside shot at a playoff spot with games remaining against Hatton and Red Bay.

Tharptown will host Hatton Friday night.
