Last week, Red Bay varsity basketball coach Matt Noah held the Tigers’ annual boys’ basketball camp for grades 3rd-7th.

The camp teaches team concept, sportsmanship, offensive fundamentals, individual shooting instruction, passing, and defensive stance and movement.

“I feel like the camp went very good,” Noah said.

“We were up by about 10 kids from last year. It’s always good when your numbers go up. That helps with getting some enthusiasm about the program here at Red Bay.”

Noah says training camp is very important to this age group because it gives him a chance to look into the future a little bit, and it gives the kids a chance to get to know him and the players and the other coaches.

“It’s just good to start a good relationship with them at a young age,” he said.

During the week, Coach Noah had Pastor Steve Lindsay and Bro. David Corum from Red Bay Freewill Baptist Church speak to them. On Wednesday of last week, professional basketball player Rayfield Ragland came in to talk to them and give them life lessons on how to act and how to represent the community in a positive way.

Plans are already underway for a June boys’ basketball camp next year.
