Shawn Greenhill and Elizabeth Baty were the overall winners of the 1st Annual July Fest 5K at Vina last week.

Seventeen runners hit the streets in the town of Vina to raise money for the Vina Rescue Squad and the Vina High School Cross Country teams.

The course started at the Vina High School parking lot and stretched through the town of Vina ending with a lap around Franklin & Hester Field.

Shawn Greenhill had the best overall time running the 3.1 miles in 18:05.  Elizabeth Baty had the fastest female time at 24:38.

There was also a one-mile fun run held after the main event. Eli Hiser clocked the fastest time running the mile in 6:14.

“This was a fun event for our community and the funds raised go to good causes,” said Vina High School track coach Paul Humphres.

“We appreciate all the support and hope we can grow this into a larger event each year.”
