The Lady Bulldogs were the champions of the 9th grade girls division at the Wildcat Tournament hosted by Tharptown High School.

The Lady Bulldogs ninth grade basketball team came away with a win in their division during the Wildcat Tournament hosted by Tharptown High School Nov. 2-5.

The key to the Lady Bulldogs’ win over Tharptown was an aggressive defense.

In the first quarter, Belgreen jumped out by a score of 8-2. In the second quarter, Shellie Barber hit a three for Belgreen, but Klaudia Harris from Tharptown would score six points to close the gap to 13-11 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Ana Castillo of the Bulldogs would score all five of her points as Belgreen increased the lead to 21-17. In the final frame, Jessica Wilson of Tharptown would score seven of her eleven points, but that wouldn’t be enough as Nicole Borden of Belgreen would score eleven of her nineteen as Belgreen pulled away with a final score of 38-32.

The Lady Bulldogs are now 6-0 for the season and will play Double Springs on Nov. 12 at Belgreen.
