Local tax service raided by federal authorities

Federal authorities executed search warrants at a Spruce Pine tax service early Tuesday.

Agents from the United States Department of Homeland Security and the Internal Revenue Service raided JB Tax Professional Services on Franklin 22 in Spruce Pine before dawn Tuesday, confiscating evidence that was hauled from the site in a rental truck.

Federal authorities would not disclose information, but officials said two people were arrested and more could be taken into custody later. Three children were reportedly removed from the home as well.
