Shoals Symphony performs for RHS, RMS students

WEB

Students at both Russellville High School and Russellville Middle School were treated to a concert from the Shoals Symphony on Monday morning in the RHS Auditorium.

The concert was part of the educational outreach the Shoals Symphony participates in each year in an effort to introduce students in local schools to a type of music they might not be familiar with.

At Monday’s concert, students heard selections from The Phantom of the Opera as well as “The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra,” which highlighted the different sections of the orchestra such as the woodwinds, the brass, the strings and the percussion.

The concert was sponsored by CB&S Bank and Sen. Roger Bedford, who was on hand to present a check for $1,500 from the Franklin County Community Development Commission to Shoals Symphony president Ellen Reinlie to help cover concert expenses.

“We want our students to have the best experiences they can have, and we think this is one of those experiences,” Bedford said.
