Doris Ann Prince was born on Saturday, Feb. 7, 1948, in Russellville and passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the age of 65, after an extended illness with breast cancer.

The visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Spry Memorial Chapel.  The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Spry Memorial Chapel.  Officiating at the service will be Bro. Clinton Busler and Bro. Mike Morrow. Burial will be at Franklin Memory Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Dorothy Tollison; brothers, James Edward Tollison, Johnny Ray Tollison, James Harold Seal; and nephew, Jonathan Tollison.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Gene Prince; son, Chris Prince and wife, Rena; grandchildren, Eli and Evan Prince; sisters, Judy Britton and husband, Jimmy, Margie Putnam; brother, Lloyd Tollison, all of Russellville; sister-in-laws, Lisa Tollison Tavares, Fla., Nell Berryman, Russellville; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris began her work career during high school at Russellville Propane Gas and after high school, she worked at the Franklin County Times as office manager and secretary.  She later returned to Russellville Propane Gas where she was a partner and held the position of secretary and treasurer. In 1986, the company sold and Doris retired to spend time with her family and help manage their cattle farm operation.

She later returned to work, working at Listerhill Credit Union and the State of Alabama.   She ended her working career at the City of Russellville in the Mayor’s office. She was responsible for accounts payable for all departments and was magistrate and notary public. She retired in 2007 to spend time with her grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their thanks for all their kindness and compassion to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Northwest Alabama Cancer Center in Muscle Shoals.  The family would also like to send a special thank you to Candace Cooper (RN), Machelle Williams, and also Amy Williams of Hospice of North Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Colbert County Animal Shelter.
