Three incumbent council members re-elected

The Russellville City Council will not have an all-new look for the next four years.

Three incumbent council members won re-election Tuesday while another advanced to an October run-off.

District 1 Councilman Jeff Masterson and county engineer David Palmer will square off in a run-off in six weeks after distancing themselves from political newcomer Terry Bolton.

District 2 Councilman William Nale defeated Pat Seal by 52 votes to win a second term, while current District 3 Councilman Gary Cummings pulled in 73 percent of the vote to win another term, defeating Burns Saint and Roy Cornelison.

Lanny Hubbard avoided a run-off in District 4 by defeating Tommy Hamilton and Otis “Geno” Garner.

Jamie Harris outpolled Susie Malone by 28 votes to capture the District 5 seat.

“I am humbled that the people of District 3 have elected me to serve them for four more years,” Cummings said.

“We have gotten a lot done in our district and there is plenty more for us to do.”

Nale also said he was pleased with the voters’ decision.

“I thought we had a real good clean race and everyone wanted to work for the city and I appreciate the people giving me more time to do what I can for them.”
