John Wesley Blanton, 45, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, at his residence.

He was a native of Red Bay and a construction worker. He was a member of Freewill Baptist Church, Red Bay.

Services were Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Freewill Baptist Church, Red Bay, with Bro. Steve Lindsay officiating. Burial was in Red Bay City Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Regina Ann Cromeans Blanton, Red Bay; two sons, John Blanton, Jr., Albuquerque, N.M., and Joshua Levi Blanton, Red Bay; step-son, Dustin Wilemon, Red Bay; his mother, Janet Garrison Wright  and husband, James, Red Bay; his father, R.C. Blanton, Vina; two brothers, Richard Charles Blanton and wife, Donna, Golden, Miss., and Brian Keith Blanton, Honolulu, Hawaii; one sister, Rebecca Cheryl Gist, Decatur, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George Franklin Blanton, Sarah Marguarette Blanton, Glover Garrison and Nople Garrison and a step-son, Terry Wilemon, Jr.

Pallbearers were Andrew Armstrong, Zack Hall, Brandon Cole, Ethan Blanton, Josh Hamilton and Alex Gist.
