Lawrence Wayne Edwards, 71, died Saturday, March 31, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 3, 1940, in Fairfield to Louie and Julia Mae Wright Edwards who preceded him in death. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Red Bay and was an engineer and manager for Lockheed Martin in Cape Canaveral, Fla.

Funeral services were Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Red Bay, with Bro. Larry Hill officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Joyce Edwards of Red Bay; two sons, Greg Edwards and wife, Donna, of Lake Butler, Fla., and Phil Edwards and wife, Melanie, of Fairhope; one daughter, Andrea Hamel and husband, Bob, of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; four grandsons, Grant, Evan and Cole Edwards and Ethan Hamel; one sister, Betty Talley of Fultondale, and two brothers, Louie Earl Edwards and wife, Bettye, of Mt. Olive, and Jerry Edwards and wife, Janice, of Bessemer.

Pallbearers were Mike Jones, Paul Huffman, Carl Fowler, Wesley Miller, Bob Hamel and Grant Edwards.
