Lady Bobcats too much for Lady Tigers
RED BAY — The Phil Campbell Lady Bulldogs defeated the Red Bay Lady Tigers 11-4 Thursday night.
Although the game ran late into the evening, the teams managed to finish the game before lightning in the area became a problem.
“We hit the ball well tonight and we played good defense,” Phil Campbell head coach Darit Riddle said. “Our center fielder was making some plays, and we had showed some good fundamentals.”
Lindsey Jackson brought in Madison Hardy for an RBI in the first for Phil Campbell, followed by another RBI by Vicky McCalister.
Carlee Berry tied up the game for Red Bay in the bottom of the second with a two RBI single.
The Lady Bobcats scored nine more runs in the contest, including on an RBI triple and an RBI double by Jackson and RBI doubles from Hardy and Sarah Hester.
Red Bay scored two more runs in the contest, including one on an inside the park home run by Audrey Goss.
“We’re young,” Red Bay head coach Steve Cox said. “We have one senior, two juniors, three sophomores and some eight and seventh graders. We are having to rebuild. I’m tickled that our girls didn’t give up.”
