Lady Bulldogs win Belgreen Invitational

Contributed The Belgreen Lady Bulldogs stand with their first place trophy after winning the Belgreen Invitational.

BELGREEN — The Belgreen Lady Bulldogs varsity softball team rebounded from the loss to Colbert County by going 3-0 to win the Belgreen Invitational this weekend.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Vina Lady Red Devils 10-0 in game one. In game two Belgreen beat the Cherokee Lady Indians 11-7 to take the lead in the winner’s bracket.

The Lady Bulldogs had to face Cherokee again, but this time Belgreen would win 11-3 to take the first place trophy in the tournament.

Laken Bragwell was the winning pitcher in all three games for Belgreen. She threw a one-hitter against Vina in game one.

Bridget Thompson scored three runs and Laken Bragwell had two in the game.

Erica Smith and Thompson each had three hits in game two against Cherokee.

They also scored two runs each.

Lauren Oliver had three runs in the championship game with a double and triple. Smith also had a double and triple, and Thompson had three runs and a triple.
