TUSCUMBIA — Things quickly went from bad to worse for the Red Bay Tigers in their Monday night baseball game against the Sheffield Bulldogs at Deshler High School.

Sheffield took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, and the Tigers would be unable to overcome the early deficit. The Bulldogs would end up with a 13-1 win in five innings.

“That’s not the way we wanted to play tonight for sure,” Red Bay head coach Donnie Hastings said. “We need to be more focused.”

The Tigers’ only run came in the top of the first when a run came in on a wild pitch.

The rest of the scoring was dominated by Sheffield. The Bulldogs had extended their lead to 7-1 by the second inning and 8-1 by the third. Sheffield scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to make the final score.

“We had a good round of batting practice before the game,” Hastings said. “I was excited to come over here. We need to maintain our intensity.”
