Man indicted for sodomy

A Russellville man accused of sexually abusing a child under the age of 12 was recently indicted on sodomy charges, courthouse officials said.

Barry Lane, 21, 158 Franks Circle, Russellville, was indicted by the January grand jury for six counts of first-degree sodomy as well as second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing said.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, Lane is accused of sodomizing a male victim multiple times over a period of seven years at a residence in Franklin County.

Oliver said the abuse allegedly started in 2004 when the victim was eight years old and reportedly happened as recently as this past June.

Lane has been released from jail on a $50,000 bond.

His case should be set for arraignment on March 29, Rushing said.
