Vina girls defeat South Lamar

J.R. Tidwell/FCT Vina senior Andrea Parrish puts up a shot in a game earlier this season.

The Vina Lady Red Devils ended senior night on Thursday on a high note by defeating the South Lamar Lady Stallions 60-46.

This marked the last home game for seniors Andrea Parrish, Courtney Watson and Amanda Patterson.

“We came out aggressively,” Vina head coach Paul Humphres said. “I’m proud that we came together and sent our seniors out with a home win.”

The Lady Red Devils led South Lamar 18-13 at the end of the first. Vina went on a 11-5 run in the second quarter to take a 29-18 lead into halftime.

The Lady Red Devils again outscored the Lady Stalions in the third, this time 14-8, giving them a 43-26 lead going into the fourth.

South Lamar put up 20 points in the fourth, but Vina’s lead proved insurmountable.

Jessica Pickle led the Lady Red Devils in scoring with 22 points. Parrish had 14 points, and Miranda Howard added 8.
