PHIL CAMPBELL – Even though a lot of the hype from this past summer’s “I’m With Phil” event has died down, many of the Phil Campbells from, literally, all over the world are still committed to helping their adopted hometown fully recover from the April 27 tornado and they’ll soon be gaining national exposure for it.
On Jan. 24 at 9 p.m. on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), several of the Phils and one  Phyllis Campbell will be featured in the network’s new series called “Beyond Belief.”
Phil Campbell from Brooklyn, N.Y., said the episode highlighting their work in the town would be featured on a “Heroes” segment during the first episode hosted by Wes Moore.
“Back in September, myself, Tuscaloosa Phil, Birmingham Phil and Phyllis from Arkansas came back to visit Phil Campbell so we could film some segments for OWN,” Brooklyn Phil said. “The segment will be about the town, the convention, what we’ve done and are continuing to do for the town and the documentary Andrew Reed has been filming.
“We think [the segment on OWN] will be a big part of what we’re calling ‘Phase Two,’ which is just trying to get the media re-interested in the story so we can continue to raise awareness and support.”
Phil Campbell native and filmmaker Andrew Reed said OWN actually purchased the rights to use some of the footage from his documentary in the 10 – 12 minute segment.
“I’m very excited to have parts of the documentary featured and I’m anxious to see how everything turned out,” Reed said. “This will be great exposure for our town and for the ongoing relief efforts.”
