Man charged with sex abuse of child

A Franklin County man spent the holidays in jail after being accused of sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl on Christmas morning.

Arnuelfo Lucas Renteria, 60, 31202 Franklin 724, Russellville, was arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old, Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said.

According to Oliver, investigators were notified at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday that the alleged abuse had occurred that morning.

He said after deputies were dispatched to the residence, the Franklin County Department of Human Resources was also notified of the alleged abuse.

The 11-year-old victim was reportedly a family acquaintance.

Oliver said Renteria was taken into custody Sunday without incident and held on a $75,000 bond.
