Ambrose Blevins, Jr. 88, Spruce Pine, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at his residence after an extended illness. 

He was a native of eastern Kentucky and retired electrician for Beaumont Medical Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.  He has lived in Spruce Pine for the past 14 years.  He was a World War II veteran and was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.

The visitation will be 12 – 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at Spry Memorial Chapel, with the service following at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Officiating at the service will be Bro. Jerome Sherrill. Burial will follow in Spruce Pine Cemetery, with military honors.

He is survived by wife, Earnestine Bray Blevins; daughters, Deborah Adair and her husband, Roger, Sherry Madden and her husband, Mike; sons, Randolph Blevins and his wife, Joann, Robert Blevins, Donald Blevins and his wife, Belinda, Michael Blevins, Brian Blevins; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Doug Blevins, from Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose Blevins, Sr. and Effie Bradenburg Blevens; and daughter, Kimberly June Blevins.

The pallbearers will be Jeff Adair, Jason Adair, Mike Madden, Craig Madden, Donald Colburn and Joey Kennedy.
