Sandra “Sam” Thomas Kent passed away on October 10, 2011. She was born on June 10, 1963 to James R. Carrithers and Nina D. Goodwin Carrithers. She married James Howard Thomas. They were later divorced.
Her family invites all her family and friends to a memorial service to celebrate her life from 2-3 pm October 29, 2011  at Mt. View Freewill Baptist Church, Hwy 243, Russellville, AL.

Sam lived in Alabama for about 20 years. She attended Kosciuszko School in Chicago. She was a devout Baptist. She liked to fish, cook, ride motorcycles, camp and be outdoors. She also loved music, swimming and dancing. Sam was a free spirit who touched everyone she met. “Imagine that” and “Oh bless it” were her favorite sayings. Fly High with the angels (Sam I Am).
The family would like to give a special thanks to Joanne Moss, Ed Lemmon, Vicki & Jim Wolf, Denise & Charles Jordet, Dickie & Meridith Martinez, and Byron & Julie Stoddard for their love and support.
Sam is survived by her children, James Thomas, Jennifer Thomas and Jason Thomas all of Russellville, Alabama; 5 grandchildren-Tatum, Kamron and Alayna Thomas, Shawn Alexander and Brodi Welborn, all of whom she loved dearly; 5 sisters-Tina Carrithers of Ogden, Mary Goforth of Walkerton, Indiana, Linda (Danny) Carrithers of Chicago, Illinois, Diane (James) Krzeminski of Chicago, Illinois, and Kerry (Raphael) Salazar of Brookfield, Illinois; and one brother Curtis Carrithers of Oak Park, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers-William Hall and James Carrithers Jr.; and a sister Ann Hall.

Akins Funeral Home, Russellville assisted the family with local arrangements.
