Russellville home destroyed in weekend fire

A weekend fire destroyed a Russellville home that was under renovation, officials said.

Russellville Fire Captain Randy Seal said crews were called to a home located off Franklin 48 behind Wilson’s Upholstery about 6 p.m. Saturday.

When they arrived, the home was fully engulfed.

“When the caller called it in, they said it was a brush fire,” Seal said.

The home was located about 2500 feet away from the road and near a wooded area.

“When we got here we could tell it was a house fire by the smoke. It was pretty much fully involved when we got on the scene and all we could do was try to keep it from spreading.”

Members of the Tharptown Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the call.

Officials said that no one was injured and fire marshals are still trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
