Man accused of sexually abusing young girl

A local man was arrested Tuesday after allegations surfaced that he had been sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl on and off for the past two years.

Jeramey M. Sartin, 35, 1631 Waterloo Rd., Russellville, was charged with sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old, Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said.

According to Hargett, officers were contacted Tuesday morning by the Department of Human Resources after the female child disclosed to school officials that Sartin has been abusing her for the past two years. Inv. Scotty Lowery said after meeting with DHR and the child, Sartin was brought in for questioning where he admitted to part of the allegations.

Sartin is in custody at the Franklin County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
