Lexington pulls away to down PC

LEXINGTON — Phil Campbell enjoyed an early 14-7 lead at Lexington Friday night, but it quickly slipped away as the Bobcats fell 50-21.

Lexington scored first, but the Bobcats answered with a 1-yard run by Craig Saint. Moments later Saint scored again, this time on a 33-yard run.

Lexington closed out the first half with three unanswered touchdowns to take a 27-14 lead by halftime.

Phil Campbell scored on its opening drive of the second half when Saint plunged into the end zone from one yard out.

Lexington added two more scores — one on and interception return — before Phil Campbell threatened again. The Bobcats drove to the Lexington 12-yard line, but turned the ball over on downs.

Lexington capped the scoring with a 13-yard touchdown run late in the game.

Saint finished the game with 23 rushes for 147 yards and three touchdowns. He also completed 15-of-22 passes for 163 yards.

Corey Potter led the Bobcat receivers with seven receptions for 93 yards.

Phil Campbell (1-5, 0-4) travels to Cherokee next week.
