Ela Emerson Nichols, 92, of Hodges, Ala. died Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Russellville Hospital.

She was a native of Franklin County, Ala., a homemaker and a member of Hodges Convention Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Hodges Convention Baptist Church with Bro. Kent Walker and Bro. George Jones officiating.  Burial was in Old Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hodges, Ala. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala. assisted the family.
She is survived by seven children, Olva Jones and husband, Jessie Jr., Marshall Nichols and wife, Zelma McCarley Nichols, Geneva Parker, Eurshel Nichols, and Shirley Holland and husband, Ronald, all of Hodges, Ala., Barbara Quillen and husband, Charles, of Russellville, Ala. and Marie Johnston and husband, Hewitt, of Spruce Pine, Ala.; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Nichols; parents, George Matthew and Artive Mitchell Emerson; son, David Odell Nichols; great-granddaughter, MargaretAnn Jones; daughter-in-law, Anita Credille Nichols; and seven brothers and six sisters.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Thanks to Dr. Morrow, Russellville Health Care and Russellville Hospital and staff.
