TUSCUMBIA — Friday night Deshler did two things it has not done in a while — defeat Russellville on the football field and beat the Golden Tigers by at least 20 points.

The Tigers ended a losing streak to Russellville dating back to 2005 and beat the Golden Tigers by at least 20 points for the first time since 1998 with a 41-21 victory against Russellville.

Will Minor scored five touchdowns for Deshler to spark the rout.

Trailing 21-0 late in the second quarter, Russellville quarterback Devan Parker scrambled for a 10-yard touchdown run on the final play of the half to pull the Golden Tigers within 14 points.

Deshler added another touchdown before Parker connected with Terence Graham on a 10-yard shuffle pass for the touchdown. After two more Deshler touchdowns, Oscar Graham scored on a 13-yard run to cut the final score to 41-21.

Russellville will host Lawrence County next week to open region play.
