Three jailed on meth charges

After an extensive investigation, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office made three arrests on Thursday related to manufacturing methamphetamine.

Walter Daniel Rea, 46, 1894 Franklin 63, Russellville, was arrested for second-degree attempted manufacturing, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime and resisting arrest.

Billie Jean Rutledge, 49, 349 Mixon St., Hackleburg, was arrested for second-degree attempted manufacturing.

Jonathan David Campbell, 38, 201 Sheffield Ave., Spruce Pine, was arrested for second-degree attempted manufacturing, second-degree possession of marijuana, conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime and an alias warrant for a traffic ticket.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, all three were arrested in connection with an investigation involving persons believed to be purchasing or manufacturing meth.

Rutledge was released on a $2,500 bond but Rea and Campbell remain in custody at the Franklin County Jail on $25,000 and $4,000 bonds respectively.
