One charged with pharmacy break-in

Russellville police have charged one man with breaking into a city pharmacy last weekend.

Matthew Ronnie Bates, 26, 2111 Broad St., Phil Campbell, was charged with third-degree burglary and attempting to commit a controlled substance crime.

Police Chief Chris Hargett said Bates is accused of breaking into Russellville Pharmacy in the Franklin Shopping Center in the early morning hours of June 18.

“He was able to enter the building through the rear entrance but he was not able to leave with any merchandise,” Hargett said.

Following an investigation, officers were able to apprehend Bates on Thursday. He is being held in the Franklin County Jail on $20,000 bond.
