Thomas E. Strickland, 78, of Vina, Ala., passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 at his residence.  He was a native of Alabama, a janitor at Red Bay School for twelve years, a guard at Sunshine Homes and a Baptist.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Ala. with Bro. Nathan Davidson and Bro. Matthew Haney officiating. Burial was in Dempsey Cemetery, Vina, Ala.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Strickland, of Vina; two children, Kathy Brown and husband, Bill, of Golden, Miss. and Bud Strickland and wife, Lisa, of Red Bay, Ala.; two grandchildren, Chris Strickland and wife, Felica, Michael Brown; and half-sister, Verla Mae Cartwright, of Charlotte, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Waltson and Vera Bolding Strickland.

Pallbearers were Wig Reynolds, Britt Freemon, David Reynolds, Bobby Forsythe and Roy Medley.
