Restaurant, car wash partner for fundraiser

To raise money for Russellville’s “Helping Santa” program, firefighters with the Russellville Fire Department and officers with the Russellville Police Department will be holding a car wash at Hometown Touchless Car Wash on Alabama 43 next to Backstreet Deli on Sunday, Dec. 5, from noon until 6 p.m.

Russellville city councilman Gary Cummings, owner of the carwash, set aside this time for residents to pay for a regular car wash and then receive an extra tire cleaning and buffering from officers and firefighters.

All proceeds from carwashes during this time will be donated to the “Helping Santa” program.

Also on Dec. 5 from noon until 6 p.m. at Backstreet Deli, city officials will serve as waiters and waitresses and any tips they receive will go towards the “Helping Santa” program.

“The ‘Helping Santa’ program really does help many families in our community,” Franklin County Fire Marshal Bobby Malone said. “Hearing these families’ stories and seeing their faces will bring tears to your eyes.

“We want to keep this program going so we hope everyone in the community will come out and support these fundraisers.”
