Restaurant at work preparing for Thanksgiving

Franklin County residents who are short on time (or patience) this Thanksgiving have an alternative to cooking the big Thanksgiving meal all on their own.
Taylor’s Restaurant located just off U.S. Highway 43 on Ronnie McDowell Drive will be taking orders for homemade Thanksgiving-type food through Wednesday with all orders being picked by 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
Items for sale include dressing, sweet potato casserole and made-from-scratch pies and cakes.
According to Taylor’s employee Renae Sanderson, selling food that can be used for Thanksgiving dinner is a service that Taylor’s has provided for many years.
“I have worked at Taylor’s for 13 years now and this is something I have always known them to do,” Sanderson said. “We usually have a very good response to it, too.”
Last year, Taylor’s took 27 orders for dressing and sold 53 whole cakes among other menu items that were also sold.
“We mostly see middle age and elderly people who order from us for Thanksgiving, even though people of all ages place orders.” Sanderson said. “Some of the older customers have gotten to the point where they can’t cook a full Thanksgiving meal anymore but they still want to have a home-cooked meal for their family.
“We’re glad that we can provide them with most everything they would need.”
Sanderson said that in addition to the dressing, casseroles, cakes and pies, the restaurant will also offer other menu items for sale in large quantities.
The dressing comes in a small size that feeds about 15 people for $25 and a large size that feeds about 40 people for $35. Giblet gravy is available in a large size for $7.50 and a small size for $5.
Whole cakes start at $25 for double chocolate and caramel cakes. German chocolate, cream cheese, carrot and coconut cakes are $35.
Whole pies in flavors of chocolate meringue, coconut meringue, sweet potato, pecan, chess and lemon ice box are $14.
For any questions or to place an order, call Taylor’s Restaurant at 256-332-7585.
