Organizers have added a car and truck show for this weekend’s Jam on Sloss Lake Fourth of July celebration.

The Cotton Flat Cruisers, a local club for car and truck enthusiasts, will be hosting their first ever car show.

The show will be held in the FMI parking lot on Lawrence Street adjacent to Sloss Lake.

“There is a group of us here who hope to develop a club where local folks who enjoy cars can get together every so often,” said club organizer and FMI plant manager Sam Scarbrough.

“We thought this would be a great opportunity to host our first show. It will go along well with all the events the city has planned.”

The city of Russellville and the city’s department boards are hosting the second annual Jam on Sloss Lake from 2 to 9:30 p.m. with music, games and food available throughout the afternoon. The festivities will conclude with a large fireworks show at 9:30 p.m.

“We want to encourage everyone to come out and have a good time,” Russellville City Councilman Gary Cummings said.

The car show will be from 2 to 6 p.m.

There is a $20 entry fee and the first 100 entries will receive a free t-shirt. Organizers will award 35 trophies at 5 p.m.

“FMI has been good to host this event in their parking lot and it will go well with the other festivities on the Fourth,” City Councilman David Grissom said.
