Use depth for success
Water temperatures are in the upper 70s to low 80s with reports of bass being caught in shallow water and in deep water.
I have not had a chance to fish this week and am relying on reports I have heard from other avid fisherman. One guy reported numerous fish in the 1.5 to 2 pound range being caught on spinner baits fished in and around grassy points.
A few more people have reported larger fish being caught using Carolina rigged worms and deep running crank baits over humps and ledged in eight to 14 foot of water.
The general consensus is bigger size fish with less numbers of fish being caught in the deeper water, with more fish of smaller size being caught in shallow water.
So far this has been a great year for bass fishing on area lakes.
Crappie fishing has been slow but is expected to pick up as the fish move into summer patterns.
Catfishing is still improving with eating-size fish being caught below Wilson Dam on cut bait and night crawlers.
