Red Bay officials announce new police tip line
Red Bay Police Chief Jana Jackson announced Monday night that the RBPD will now have an anonymous tip line.
Jackson said the line will be available to those who want to report on criminal activity, but would like to remain anonymous.
“The tip line is directed through an answering machine service only and will not be connected to a specific telephone,” Jackson said. “The line will also be without caller I.D. capabilities so that there will be no way to trace the call back to the caller.
“We would like to inform residents to keep using the emergency numbers such as 911 for emergencies, but use the tip line if you have any valuable information that may could lead to an arrest.”
RBPD asks anyone who has witnessed criminal activity in some form or fashion to call 256-356-3134 and leave any relative information regarding the activity.
In other business, Senator Roger Bedford gave out several checks including:
• $10,000 going to Bear Creek Development Authority
• $1,000 going to Future Business Leaders of America
• $1,000 going to Spruce Pine Historical Society
• $1,000 going to Mending Heart Youth Farm
• $1,000 going to Russellville Farmer’s Market
Mike Shewbert with the Franklin County Youth Baseball also gave $1,200 from money raised through fundraisers to refurbish the old gym in Red Bay.
The next meeting of the Red Bay City council will be held on Monday, June 24 at 7 p.m. inside city hall.
