Appointees should be best option for community
Elected officials are trusted with many powers and responsibilities. One of those responsibilities is to appoint board members who represent the community’s interests.
Sometimes appointments are not approved due to personal conflicts between the appointee and the elected official or because of other underlying reasons.
While it is human nature to disagree, people elect officials to make the community a better place. If somebody in office cannot set aside a personal grudge to improve the community, they should abstain from voting on the appointment instead of denying citizens of the best candidate.
All elected bodies, whether it be on a local, state or national level has the responsibility to make the most appropriate appointments possible.
