Stop leads to meth bust

RED BAY-  A Mississippi man was taken into custody after authorities found almost one pound of meth ice crystals in the back seat area of vehicle.

Red Bay Police Chief Jana Jackson said Mark Allen Horn, 46, 95 Sump Johnson Road, Golden, Miss. is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and drug trafficking.

Jackson said officers made the traffic stop of a 2001 black Acura heading west on Alabama 24 in Red Bay around 1 a.m. Friday.

The stop was made because of an expired tag.

Jackson said the Red Bay K-9 unit was called to the scene and alerted that there was a scent of drugs in the vehicle.

Jackson said officers proceeded to search the vehicle and found what appeared to be close to a pound of crystallized methamphetamine wrapped in dark tape in the back seat area.

Horn is currently being held at the Franklin County jail without bail.
