Man arrested for sending porn to teen

A Winston County man was taken into custody Wednesday after authorities received information that he sent revealing photos of himself to a 16-year-old girl.

Investigators with the Franklin County Sheriff’s office said Timothy Dewayne Johnson, 36, 973 Winston 92, Haleyville, has been arrested and charged with distribution of pornography to a minor, which is a Class A misdemeanor.

Investigators said Johnson is accused of sending sexually explicit messages to the teen’s cell phone as well as soliciting sex from her.

Authorities said the teen initially thought the man was 18 years-old, but once she realized he was older, the teen informed her parents and they in return contacted the sheriff’s office.

Investigators said after Johnson realized the girl’s parents had contacted authorities, he drove down to the station, confessed and turned himself over to law enforcement.

Investigators said Johnson is being held in the Franklin County Jail without bail because of a parole violation on a prior charge in Marion County.
