Drill shows schools and cops ready for emergency
This week Russellville City Schools, Russellville Police and Russellville Fire conducted a drill to check each entity’s readiness in case of an emergency.
An “intruder” was set loose in the middle school and police were on the scene in 38 seconds of school personnel placing the emergency call.
As the number of violent acts and child abductions increase across the nation, it is nice to see local authorities preparing for such an incident.
Instead of waiting for something to happen, Russellville is being proactive and preparing ahead of time.
In the case of a child abduction, every second is vital in finding the child before the suspect can cause the child any harm.
While it is difficult to stage a “real” incident- the world is a crazy place and criminals are sneaky- having some practice never hurts.
After all, practice makes perfect.
